DOCK ASSISTANT

DOCK ASSISTANT The Record Searchlight has an immediate opening for a part-time dock assistant. This is a night shift position; starting time will vary between 11:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m., 5 to 6 hours per day, 5 days per week, weekends and holidays mandatory. Responsibilities include distribution of daily a.m. newspaper - loading newspaper bundles into company truck and transporting newspapers to independent contractor distribution locations, distributing mail to independent contractors, preparing print and deliver products, operating forklift, and reviewing and preparing paperwork related to distribution. Ideal candidates possess a good mechanical ability, a reliable vehicle, valid CA driver license, and a clean DMV printout. Must be able to read and write English and perform basic math functions and possess computer skills at high school level. Essential physical functions include continuous lifting and carrying newspaper bundles weighing approx. 25 lb., walking, bending, stooping, crouching and kneeling. Occasional lifting of 75 lbs. with assistance. Will work in outdoor climate. Starting wage is $7.50/hour plus night shift differential.
