Wound Care Nurse RN

Under general direction of the Clinical Coordinator, have authority, responsibility, and accountability for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patients with ostomies, lower extremity ulcers, wounds, fistulas, pressure ulcers and skin problems related to fecal and urinary incontinence.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: The Wound Care Nurse requires a current license to practice in Michigan as a registered nurse. A minimum of 3-5 years clinical experience in Medical/Surgical or Critical Care Nursing is required. Successful graduate of an approved National Alliance of Wound Care (NAWC) Wound Management Certification with the WOCN Certification Board as a CWON or CWCON or current active certification with Association for the Advancement of Wound Management (AAWM) as a Certified Wound Specialist (CWS) of Diplomat, Fellow or Clinical Associate status. Receive a passing score of 85% or better on the NAWC Wound Care Certification Examination. Certification by National Alliance of Wound Care (NAWC) in conjunction with the Wound Care Education Institute (WCEI), allows the nurse to use the initials “WCC”. Advanced Wound Debridement certification is separate from WCC; this requires supervised clinical check off by a physician for competency documentation and is highly preferred. Previous wound care experience preferred. CPR and ACLS required. BSN highly recommended.
