RN-Ambulatory GI/Endoscopy

The Registered Professional Nurse assumes the responsibility of planning, executing, and evaluating the nursing care given to the surgical patients and has patient contact during the immediate pre-, intra-, and immediate post-operative periods, monitors the activities of all nursing staff during the procedure to which she/he is assigned; demonstrates clinical skills, and serves as team leader during on-call emergency situations.

Physical Demands
1. Work is often of medium to heavy demand.
2. Walking and standing approximately 90% of the time.
3. Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, carrying and supporting objects weighing at least 35 pounds. Frequently assists in moving patients with and without assistance. May be required to handle heavy equipment.
4. Raising and lowering objects from one level to another including upward pushing.
5. Frequent stooping, bending, crouching at the knees and waist (downward and forward).
6. Handling, holding, fingering, grasping, and turning objects regularly. Perceiving through feel (fingertips usually) the size, shape, texture and temperature of objects.
7. Hear/speak adequately to communicate with and be understood effectively by staff, patients, physicians and general public.
8. Visual acuity to be able to read instructions and orders and record process appropriately. Visual acuity with clarity of vision within 20 feet or more or less, depth perception to judge distance and space relations.
9. Function appropriately and effectively under pressure.
10. May be required to work other shifts as necessary.


Working Conditions
1. Primarily works indoors in well-lighted and ventilated rooms. Temperature can be variable, but primarily constant at a comfortable level.
2. Frequent contact with water and other liquids.
3. May be subjected to disagreeable odors.
4. Hazards may include:
o risk of exposure to blood borne pathogens (Category One).
o Risk of exposure to communicable diseases.
o Risk of exposure to sharp instruments and contaminated equipment.
o Exposure to chemicals as listed in the MSDS manual.
o Frequent contact with fumes, odors, vapors, mists and liquids.
o May be exposed to abusive and violent behaviors.
o Risk of exposure to radiation.
REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or GED is required.
Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing required.

Experience
One year of Operating Room experience is preferred.

Licensure/Certification
1. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida.
2. CPR Certified in Basic Life Support; ACLS preferred.
3. CNOR Certification is preferred.
