Nursing Director - ICU

Experience amazing opportunities and outstanding rewards with the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine.Responsible for planning, developing and opening a four bed medical/surgical ICU Unit. Additional duties include, recruiting, orientation and training of all required staff, preparing all necessary policies and procedures for the Unit, as well as establishing a collegial working relationship with the Medical Directors of the Unit. The candidate selected will implement managerial goals and objectives for the Unit to include nursing standards, providing leadership and direction for all personnel assigned to the Unit, will follow legal reporting protocols for abused and neglected cases and involving the proper disciplines for referral purposes when applicable, develops and implements a comprehensive performance improvement program in compliance with JCAHO standards and other regulatory agencies, will institute the appropriate interventions for life-threatening emergencies occurring within the Unit. This position will require providing patient care, as well as demonstrating advanced knowledge of medication therapies for patients of all ages, i.e., dosages, calculations, sites and routes when appropriate.


A graduate of an accredited Nursing Program, current/valid Florida RN license, CPR, HIV, Domestic Violence and Medical Errors Certificates required plus, three years of recent experience as an ICU Director, Manager or Assistant Manager with experience in an academic center or large complex facility and a proven track record of building relationships with physicians, direct reports and key staff members throughout the hospital/medical environment. Must present strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as excellent written and verbal skills. Moderate to advanced computer literacy skills essential. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, work experience or certifications will be considered.
