REQUIREMENTS
The Diabetes Clinical Nurse Specialist is a masters-prepared registered nurse who acts as the primary resource to nurses for bedside education and complex cases. Experience as Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) required, Diabetes specialty experience preferred. The Clinical Nurse Specilist utilizes the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating) in achieving the goals of the nursing department. Adheres to the Florida Hospital Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.Diabetes CNS preferred. Responsible for Diabetes Collaborative Practice.

Job responsibilites for the Diabetes Clinical Nurse Specialist position may include (but is not limited to) the following:

* Resource to Professional Practice Program Diabetes Resource Nurses.
* Resource to Point of Care Testing.
* Teach Basic and Advance Diabetes Program and other offerings.
* Collaborate and work with Florida Hospital Outpatient Diabetes Center.
* Special Projects (as directed by Med/Surg and Nursing Education & Research Directors)
* Resource to nurses for bedside education and complex cases.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

Basic Life Support

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

BLS & ACLS

Education and Experience Required:

Graduate of a school of nursing. Masters in Nursing (Clinical Nurse Specialist)

Licensure, Certification or Registration Required:

Current registration with Florida State Board of Nursing as a registered professional nurse. Must be a Registered Nurse licensed in the state of Florida or actively pursuing reciprocity from another state.
