Clinical Nurse Specialist- Surgical
Department: Advanced Nursing PracticeSchedule: Full-timeShift: Day shiftHours: 8 am to 5 pmJob Details: Master's Degree in Nursing required, Advanced Practice Nurse preferred -5 years clinical experience required, Education or Admin experience in Emergency preferred -Current WYoming licensure, CPR, ACLS, Certified Emergency Nurse or other related Nursing specialityWorks under general direction of the Director of Nursing Practice. The Clinical Nurse Specialist assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and supervises individual and population-based patient care in a specified clinical area. Collaborates with nurse leaders to develop unit specific and/or house-wide education curricula to meet changing organizational and customer needs and regulatory agency education requirements. Scope of practice includes practitioner (in accordance with licensure), educator, consultant, researcher, administrator and change agent. Collaborates with physicians and Nurse Manager to research and evaluate new equipment, concepts or trends in health care and policy and procedure development based on current evidence and research. Communicates best practices to staff. Conducts patient rounds either with physician or independently and takes a leadership role on interdisciplinary team to advocate for patients, families, and staff. In collaboration with physician and unit staff, provides advanced therapeutic intervention, procedures, clinical diagnosis, and comprehensive assessments utilizing skills of advanced practice nurse. Responsible to promote optimal patient/family care with ultimate goal of enhancing patient/family outcomes Maintains personal accountability to continuously expand knowledge base through research and continuing education; attends at least one national conference in clinical area of specialty every other year (reimbursed by employer). Performs other duties as assigned. Maintains confidentiality at all times.
