is currently managing the Florida Civil Commitment Center, a progressive facility dedicated to the medical treatment of psychiatric offenders. The existing 545-bed facility is located in Arcadia FL just 30 miles East of Coastal communities such as; Sarasota, Siesta Key, Punta Gorda, Ft. Myers, and Lake Placid. GEO/GEO Care has designed and will construct, finance, and operate a new state-of-the replacement facility which is slated for completion in 2008.

This position is responsible for the medical assessment of patients by participating in their clinical medical management and working closely with the physicians and medical staff. The ARNP is responsible for the assessment and treatment of medical conditions of the FCCC residents, under the supervision of the primary care physician. At times, the off-shift ARNP will function in an administrative supervisory capacity over nursing. The ARNP works in accordance with their established protocol.
REQUIREMENTS
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Provides comprehensive assessment, plan development, implementation of plan of care and evaluation of effectiveness of interventions with revisions as necessary. Performs admission and annual physicals.
Initiates, monitors, and alters medications and treatments within approved guidelines and policies and procedures. Documents all work.
Evaluates and documents physical and behavioral reviews. Identifies and evaluates illnesses. Compiles and evaluates medical histories and physical finding. Initiates diagnostic laboratory test and interprets and evaluates laboratory results. Intervenes in patients medical emergencies., and provides medical coverage to the infirmary.
Monitors medication and initiates appropriate therapies for certain conditions and changes medications according to variations in a patients response within established protocols.
Observes and differentiates between signs and symptoms associated with normal human physiology and those indicative of pathological changes.
Documents all relevant patient care issues in patients progress notes and treatment plan all relevant patient care issues.
Monitors and manages medical patients and appropriately refers to other specialists and disciplines.
Contributes to the Employee Health program via activities such as pre-employment physical exams and clearance, employee immunization administration, employee health teaching, and assessment of employee medical emergencies and/or injuries. In conjunction with Infection Control Practitioner and the Human Resources Department, maintains employee health records.
Participates in the FCCC quality assurance/improvement program and compliance audits.
Provides input to the health care policies and procedures and assists with sick call triage.

Is knowledgeable about care and treatment needs of patients of different ages. Provides individualized care and treatment that is consistent with/sensitive to the age and life span developmental needs of each resident.
Follows all established medical and healthcare treatment protocols.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Graduation from a national league of nursing accredited school and certification as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Florida to practice professional nursing.
Two (2) years experience as a medical ARNP. Psychiatric experience preferred and/or experience in a residential healthcare institution. Must maintain a current copy of license on file at the hospital at all times.
Competence necessary in the following areas: medical emergencies, crisis intervention, physical assessment, medical nursing care and psychiatric nursing care. Able to work without direct immediate supervision in performing nursing diagnosis and provide appropriate follow up treatment according to protocol. Ability to work with all levels within the facility.
Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
