Social Worker - Family Specialist

AASK is seeking a Family Specialist to provide intake, assessment, home study, placement and post placement services for families who wish to provide foster care to and/or adopt children with special needs.

AASK is a non-profit organization licensed through the State of Arizona. AASK's mission is building and strengthening families through foster care and foster care. The AASK foster care and adoption programs provide families multiple opportunities to make a significant difference in the lives of children who have come into Arizona's foster care system as a result of abuse, neglect and abandonment. Established in 1988, AASK has a strong history and places more children into Maricopa County homes annually than nearly all other agencies combined. AASK Family Specialist's work closely with prospective families. The Family Specialist works with the family from the point of intake in a mutual assessment process to help the family assess their own skills and readiness to parent special needs children. The Family Specialist conducts visits in the family home and writes a home study detailing the family's history and strengths. The Family Specialist provides support to the family while the family awaits placement and works with the family and the DES case manager to match the family with a child. The Family Specialist monitors and supports the family following placement of a child.
REQUIREMENTS
Candidates for this position must have a Bachelor's in Social Work or related field.

Candidates for this position must have strong writing skills and will be asked to produce a writing sample as part of the interview process.

Services are provided primarily in family homes, so candidates must have reliable transportation that enables them to travel to family homes located throughout the Valley as needed.
