Communicate Support To Assault & Abuse Survivors

Lake County Council Against Sexual Assault/Zacharias Center (LaCASA), Lake County’s only rape crisis center, seeks a Spanish/English fluent bi-lingual, bi-cultural Therapist. LaCASA provides quality, comprehensive, client-centered services to survivors of sexual assault and abuse in the spirit of equality, free from judgment or oppression. In this vital position, you will counsel clients of all ages whose lives have been affected by sexual abuse/assault.

As an active member of our team, your duties will include:

• Providing trauma-based counseling to assault/abuse survivors and non-offending parents

• Assisting with the development of a Spanish/English counseling program, plus diversification strategies to ensure equal service accessibility for people of all backgrounds

• Developing adolescent and adult support groups

• Following ANCRA regulations for the identification and reporting of sexual abuse

• Facilitating training programs for Spanish speaking communities

• Speaking about abuse/assault issues to various community, business and religious organizations

• Providing telephone crisis intervention

• Maintaining statistical records of services performed

• Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS
A master’s degree in counseling, social work or human services is strongly preferred. Requires written/spoken fluency in both English and Spanish, experience in the sexual assault/incest field, excellent interpersonal communication skills and flexibility to work 2-4 evenings per week. Must have 3-5 years experience in trauma-based, client-centered counseling, plus the ability to serve people of all backgrounds with sensitivity, acceptance and understanding.
