Residential Group Home - Direct Care

The mission of The Arc of Monmouth is to improve the lives of persons with mental retardation and their families. This is accomplished through advocacy, services, and supports, cooperation with community partners and community education. The Arc of Monmouth also works to prevent the causes and effects of mental retardation.


Monitor and assist residents in all in-house activities including meal preparation, daily chores, etc. for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Assume responsibilities for the program when either designated "in charge" or in the absence of a supervisor.
Participate as a member of an interdisciplinary team in the development and implementation of Individual Habilitation Plans for the Individuals served.
Implement methods and techniques to assist residents in attaining IHP objectives.
Record pertinent medication information and complete daily log entries as required.
Administer and/or monitor the taking of medication as needs require.
Complete written reports, such as file records, tracking and data collection.
Use appropriate intervention, assume responsibility, and complete all reporting procedures for any crisis.
Implement behavior modifying plans in accordance with each individual's plan.
Keep records on residents' use of personal finances and household finances as directed by supervisor.
Supervise and/or monitor the activity or any volunteers or visitors who are on the premises during his/her working hours.
Transport residents to various activities in the residence vehicle, staff member's own vehicle, or utilizing public transportation.
Insure that any resident who leaves the home for social, recreational, or any other reason is adequately prepared in appearance and with medication, finances, transportation, etc.
Follow and uphold all policies and procedures in accordance with the standards which govern the program.
Attend or conduct various meetings as requested by supervisor.
Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or GED
Prefer some college education
Valid NJ Driver's License
Driving record which is acceptable to the insuring company of the Association
One year experience in working with people with developmental disabilities
Ability to train individuals with developmental disabilities
Skilled in household management
