Job Description

Position Title:Research Nurse

Work areas:Norris Cancer Hospital

Job Summary:This position requires a person with a nursing background and an interest in clinical oncology research. The role of the Research Nurse is a diverse one. This person works independently, yet is able to relate well with physicians, patients, peers, data managers, and other hospital personnel. This person is accountable to the Medical Director and Associate Director of CISO and to the Principal Investigator with whom she works. This person is familiar with and adheres to the policies and procedures of the hospital where working.

Specific Job Functions

1.Will work with the Oncology Gastrointestinal Program (GI) at the USC/Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center
2.Will coordinate GI clinical Trials
3.Will ensure protocol compliance to clinical trials by assessing patient eligibility and following protocol guidelines
4.Will ensure patient compliance to clinical trials by keeping patient fully informed and monitoring patient closely at protocol designated times.
5.Will interact with physicians, data managers, peers, and study sponsors
6.Will interact with hospital staff and comply with hospital policies and procedure.


Requirements
1.RNs must have current California Registered Nurse license
2.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
3.Ability to work well with many people and in different disciplines
4.Completes Human Subject Training, HIPPA, and Sexual Harrassment on- line
courses.
