CHILD WELFARE SPECIALISTLutheran Social Services of Illinois is currently seeking Child Welfare Specialist for our foster care and adoption program in Marion, IL. The caseworker provides and coordinates a continuum of case management services on all levels of the child welfare system designed to achieve permanency for children within their family of origin, extended family, or a foster/adoptive family within the policies and procedures of the agency, accreditation agency, and regulatory agency.ResponsibilitiesPerform all tasks as required in the written service plan.Meet productivity requirements as established by the program director or designeeComplete and submit all necessary reports, billing, and documentation accurately and on time as required by agency and funding sources.Assist family in the identification of both formal and informal resources that may be of support and assistanceCommunicate with supervisor, work group and collateral agencies regarding children’s and/or family’s status.Assists in the planning and facilitation of training for foster/birth/adoptive parents and staff as required.Perform other related tasks as necessary or as assigned. REQUIREMENTS
SPECIFICATIONS: - Bachelors degree in social work or degree in related human services field (psychology, psychiatric nursing, psychiatry, gerontology, counseling, rehabilitation counseling, pastoral counseling, or human services.) - One year of child welfare experience or two years of related experience - DCFS Child Welfare License. Licensure is not a prerequisite. However, it is a requirement to maintain employment - Demonstrated ability to communicate in a clear, comprehensible manner, both verbally and in writing - Capacity to understand, and empathize with the cultural, psychological, and practical needs of the clients that the agency serves - Record of compliance with the law and clearance on Illinois CANTS
