Scripps is a not-for-profit, community-based health care delivery network in San Diego, California, that includes five acute-care hospitals, more than 2,600 affiliated physicians, an extensive ambulatory care network, home health care and associated support services. As a result of the July 2000 reaffiliation with Scripps Clinic, Scripps now has approximately 10,000 employees and also cares for patients at 12 Scripps Clinic locations throughout San Diego County.Division: Scripps HospitalsDepartment: INSERVICE EDUCATIONJob Type: Full-TimeShift Type: DaysShift Hours: 8 Hr ShiftPosition Profile: This position is for improving culturally competent care and services for Limited English speaking patients at Scripps Mercy Hospital. The structure and programs developed may be used as a foundation for improving cultural competency throughout ScrippsHealth. The responsibilities for this position include assessing existing programs and resources; developing and implementing resources and training programs to improve knowledge and awareness related to cultural competence; interpretation and translation services (spoken and written); and to increase organizational knowledge and involvement in public policy and advocacy. Responsible for assessing, planning developing, implementing and evaluating programs to promote development and cultural competence and linguistic service of staff at Scripps Mercy campuses. Provides and / or facilitates such education using adult learning theory. Serves as liaison / facilitator staff development generalist for multicultural "non-professional" staff. Acts as hospital wide cultural competency and education consultant to all departments. Responsibilities will include data management for programs and activities, supporting learning organization and process improvement activities through modeling behaviors, teaching, facilitation and participation.SCRIPPS VALUESWe provide the highest quality of service.Scripps is committed to putting the patient first and quality is our passion. REQUIREMENTS
Preferred Qualifications: Minimum three years experience in education, health care, or social services related field.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Bilingual and bicultural English/Spanish (spoken and written). Demonstrated proficiency required.
Medical terminology preferred.
Excellent organization skills with ability to plan and implement programs.
Business and fiscal management skills required, with ability to evaluate programs using qualitative and quantitative measurements, including outcomes measurement and fiscal tracking.
Knowledgeable in performance improvement principles and processes. High level of organization, computer and communication skills required.
