Research Tech/Photographer

Job Summary: The Ophthalmic Research Technician/Photographer is responsible for providing assistance in the clinic environment for the Research Investigators and coordinating patients and their care while in the clinic. Serves as Ophthalmic technician to the Research Director and works with the back and front office supervisors for appointment scheduling; performing and assisting with all technical aspects of the patient visit. Performs other duties as needed.Job Specifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Satisfactory completion of (competency in) Loma Linda departmental standards within 90 days of hire. Certification with Wisconsin Reading Center within 90 days of hire for photography and Optical Coherence Tonometry; must maintain certification. Current BLS/CPR required within 30 days of hire. Minimum 1-2 years in an ophthalmic or optometric setting or graduation from approved educational institute for medical assisting. Efficient in word processing and spreadsheet software. Type 30 wpm with 90% accuracy. Use of computer, copier, fax machine, answering telephones, good digital dexterity, good hand-eye coordination to utilize assessment tools. Good oral and written communication with health team, patients, and families.
