Publications Assistant

This Publications Assistant in our medical association's Publications department performs administrative, production, and editorial tasks for the Academy’s publications. These tasks require intensive knowledge of Academy publication standards and procedures, high-level skills in word processing, database management systems, and spreadsheet programs.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists publications coordinator in all stages of book development and production of special projects assigned by the director, including author correspondence, manuscript tracking, and coordinating production with other staff.Assists publications coordinator in all departmental administrative functions, including meeting planning and travel arrangements.Assists periodicals staff with journal manuscript processing.
Organizes distribution of author copies of completed texts. Assists with distribution of review copies of books.Travel: None
REQUIREMENTS
Required: High school diploma plus at least two years college; high level of skill with word processing and spreadsheet programs; 2-5 years experience in administrative, editorial, or production environment; strong organizational and human relations skills. Desired: Basic copyediting and permissions experience; undergraduate degree in humanities or related field; proofreading skills.Resumes must be accompanied by cover letters and salary requirements.
