Published monthly, Architectural Record covers all building types and aspects of architectural practice. As the magazine of The American Institute of Architects, the magazine provides exclusive reach to every AIA member as well as non-member architects and related professionals.



The news editor produces Architectural Record's monthly news section and posts breaking news stories on architecturalrecord.com on a daily basis. Other duties may include the coordination of special news sections, the writing and production of center-of-book stories, building types studies, departments, and, where appropriate, contributing stories to other McGraw-Hill Construction publications.



Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:




Research stories suitable for publication in Record's news section for use in print and on archrecord.com.




Writes news stories, or assign them to freelance writers. Fact-checks and copyedits freelance writers' stories. Obtain photography or other artwork as needed.




Coordinate special news sections which, from time to time, may be warranted in special circumstances when extended news coverage is needed, such as a natural disaster or a theme issue.




Maintains record of freelance assignments, schedule dates of completion, and obtain status of photography or other artwork. Follow up to ensure deadlines are met.




Work with art department to lay-out news pages for print edition, as well as work with web production staff to post stories on the web.
