INTERACTIVE PRODUCER / WASHINGTON BUREAU

Purpose:
Tribune Interactive has an opening for a new position based in Tribune Company’s recently combined Washington Bureau. This Shared News interactive producer will:

Help gather and post online content from Tribune’s world-class Washington staff, including content from the newspapers and content produced “on cycle” specifically for the Internet and other platforms.
Be the catalyst for online participation by the Washington-based journalists.
Work remotely with Chicago-based Shared News colleagues on packaging national and international content for use by Tribune’s websites.
Attend daily planning meetings with the bureau chiefs and advocate for online participation.
Work closely with Tribune Broadcasting to coordinate and gather video content for use online.
Assist the Tribune Today internal content sharing operation, including aggregating story budgets, communicating with various desks and helping maintain the Tribune Today intranet site.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 3-5 years in the news business as a reporter or editor, with online production and Washington experience strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to edit content and write effective headlines and promos for online. Excellent communication, planning and diplomacy skills required. Work schedule may include some weekend and evening or early morning hours and, given the news environment, the producer will have an on-call pager. Must be technically savvy and be able to quickly master various software tools needed for content editing production.
