Job Description:
HNTB seeks an external communications director to plan and develop the companies' national marketing communications programs. This position is based in the company's Kansas City, Mo., office.The external communications director will be a senior member of the firm's corporate communications department, which functions like an in-house agency for individual HNTB companies. The external communications director will consult with the leadership of the HNTB companies to develop and implement external communications programs that advance objectives of those individual companies, as well as the overall brand and image of HNTB.This is a senior-level position that requires at least 10 years of proven experience in developing and implementing effective communications programs for professional services companies in either a large corporate or agency setting. A proven background in communications planning, creative execution and public relations, with a variety of electronic, broadcast and print media, is required. Excellent writing, planning and people and project management skills are necessary. Experience managing a communications team, as well as proven leadership, management and mentoring skills, are required.The external communications director will manage an in-house communications team as well as external resources. The director must be able to develop internal and external relationships while concurrently developing and implementing communications programs.The external communications director must be a team player who can interact effectively with employees at all level of the organization as well as with senior leadership and external sources. This role requires strong interpersonal and presentation skills, as well as an ability to think creatively and strategically.Job Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or related fields required.At least 10+ years of responsible experience in public relations/communications field in either a large corporation or agency setting required.
