Editorial Systems Support--Newsroom

Army Times Publishing Co., a Gannett company, is seeking a Systems Editor. This is a great opportunity for an experienced newsroom staffer to take on a technical position.

This position provides technical support and informal training to our newsroom staff on our Quark-based pagination, workflow and content management software; and answers user questions and resolves problems as necessary. Other duties include: Training new employees on standard applications; Daily and weekly systems maintenance including the creation of new accounts, deleting old accounts, and changing passwords.



The ideal candidate will have experience helping newsroom staff effectively use personal computers. Excellent verbal communication skills and problem solving abilities are required to respond to technical questions and identify and fix computer problems with the assistance of other technical staff. 1-3 years experience is required. Undergraduate degree preferred; journalism degree helpful. Advanced skills in Quark and Word are required, along with experience with internet research; knowledge of Internet Explorer, Windows XP and 2000, and Mac are preferred.
