Director, Public Relations

Based at our Corporate headquarters, provides communications' leadership and creativity in developing long term strategies which build and enhance the company's public image and visibility by leveraging branding opportunities with the public, media, community involvement and programming activities, where applicable. Designs and implements policies and programs that ensure the public's understanding of Bally Total Fitness' goals and achievements, and enhances the organization's standing.

Job Description:
Develops and implements public relations strategies that will result in a favorable perception of the company to the community and its public image among customers, employees and the media. Coordinates national and local media opportunities with corporate public affairs team. Handles agency questions and needs for all media requests and corporate PR concerns. Prepares strategic and comprehensive communications plans for all major issues; develops message positioning and prepares talking points for crisis work. Promote the Bally brand identity to external audiences through event/programming/product packaging/promo spots. Develop and implement internal communications programs.
Job Requirements
BA in Business Administration, Journalism, Public Relations, Broadcasting, Public Administration or equivalent. 5-7 years experience in consumer media relations. Prior experience in: crisis communications, working with multi-location retailers/service organizations, national campaign development, and agency management. Must have strong Chicago area and National media contacts. Strong writing skills. Health and Fitness background a plus.
