Copy Editor

The Daily Advertiser has an immediate opening for a Copy Editor. This position is responsible for editing stories of publication. Candidate will ensure that spelling, grammar, syntax and quotes are accurate and correct; design and layout news pages, crop and size photographs. REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications include college degree or equivalent experience, along with thorough understanding of newspaper editing standards, including consideration of acceptable style, libel and necessary content. Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of modern journalistic techniques through innovative editing, new approaches to old problems and a concern for the public’s perception of the newspaper, while adhering and upholding standards traditionally observed by the newspaper. Strong knowledge of a traditional news desk, interpersonal skills, technical and practical knowledge and experience with Quark and PhotoShop required.
