NJ client is looking for a Statistician to join its Advanced Actuarial Pricing Group .
Duties/Responsibilities:
·Participate in the creation, evaluation, quality control, and use of Selective operational and external vendor files (for example, the US Census and Dun and Bradstreet) in statistical analysis and modeling.
·Use SAS in predictive (regression) modeling for the development, testing, and implementation of loss ratio, severity, and frequency models (by line of business).
·Design, conduct, and report/present sophisticated/complex statistical and predictive modeling projects.
·Use statistical techniques to enhance the value of existing databases with data modeling, fusion, and integration.
·Apply high-level SAS procedures and functions such as SAS macros and SAS SQL.
·Design and use Excel spreadsheets and Access databases for data analysis and reporting.
·Serve on various Selective interdepartmental teams seeking to implement new initiatives with statistical/predictive modeling implications and issues.
REQUIREMENTS
Requirements:
·Masters degree in statistics, mathematics, business, or related field required.
·Strong statistical, general analytical, and logic skills, plus a range of predictive modeling experience using SAS software.
·3 years plus progressive experience in statistics analysis and data modeling.
·Expertise using sophisticated statistical analysis techniques, including multivariate methods, experimental design, and optimization.
·5 years experience with SAS software, mainframe environment skills preferred.
·Expertise using multiple SAS products, particularly SAS Base and SAS/STAT, plus SAS SQL, and SAS macros.
·Expertise understanding and using large flat files and relational databases
·Proficient with MS Work, Access, and Excel.
·Aptitude to detect, trouble-shoot, and foresee data and analysis issues and implement creative solutions.
·Outstanding organizational and communication (verbal and written) skills, with great attention to detail.
·Excellent leadership skills and proven ability to work independently as well as a team member intra- and inter-departmentally.
·Insurance industry experience preferred.
