Senior Product Manager #7102
Basic FunctionWithin the Product Management department, this position develops and implements a strategic product plan for cash access. This product plan should reflect a compelling and unique product offering that is attractive to existing and prospective issuer clients, utilizing the technical infrastructure of ATM Networks and banks.The position will lead a cross-functional team, including issuing client(s) and internal departments (Pulse, Branding, Sales, Operations, BT, Law Division, Pricing) in the development and execution of the product. Following mature product development, the position manages the project with an awareness of competitor offerings and identifies strategic opportunities to enhance the product.
Position regularly manages high-visibility, cross-functional teams toward specific goals.Essential Functions1.Creates the strategic product plan for Cash Access and Cash Over:
Analyzes competitor offerings to determine what is available in the marketplaceConducts market research to enhance customer needs and expectationsLeverages operational, Sales, and Pulse knowledge of ATM’s, debit and in-lobby cash advances to determine strategyDesigns a compelling product offering that differentiates the networkWorks with the Pricing Department to ensure that product is priced appropriatelyDevelops a communication strategy for affected parties (ATM networks, banks, issuers)
Documents strategy into a cohesive plan2.Assists with issuer, ATM and bank sales efforts:
Creates effective marketing collateral
Creates and executes applicable promotionsPresents product plan to issuers for buy in3.Manages the development of the product to completion and distribution:
Manages cross-functional team execution including clients (issuers, Pulse, Operations, Sales, etc.)
Creates a thorough implementation planWithin a specified timeframe and budget, implements the actual product offeringFollows appropriate systems development processes to ensure on time and thorough delivery of business requirements4.Leads a cross-functional team consisting of issuer clients and internal departments:
Assists client with making product operationalRegularly assists all parties in providing relevant information and answering questions5.Manages the mature product on an ongoing basis:
Manages the product P&L
Develops meaningful and accurate reporting to denote product progressEnsures accurate interchange is passed to issuer client/fees assessedStays abreast of industry trends to enhance product if necessary6.Through dotted-line reporting structures, assists more junior level product managers with strategic direction of their products
REQUIREMENTS
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree strongly preferredAbility to conceptualize and communicate strategic approaches and goalsStrong leadership ability to drive team to a consensus and manage broad groups without direct authorityCommand of details but with ability to synthesize into holistic pictureAbility to guide and work with teams in line with the Discover values is paramountAptitude for research and evaluation of market offeringsAbility to work closely with other departments in the direction and use of their resources toward goalsAbility to structure, prepare, and as required, communicate the presentation of product plan to executive-level managementFast evaluation and decision-making skills necessary, along with the ability to articulate defined requirementsAbility to understand relationship and contractual issues with major playersExperience with developing BT projects to completion is preferredAbility to understand product of highly technical natureStrong PC competency (spreadsheets, word processing, presentation software, Internet) required. Ability to complete exceptional PowerPoint documents is critical.
