Production Manager

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY OF PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR
Supervise and direct daily manufacturing operations at the Danner facility. Requires extensive knowledge of manufacturing plant operations including "Lean manufacturing", "just in time" and "Flow" principles. Drive the factory to be "best in class" in quality, delivery and value to achieve production consistent with Company objectives while maintaining a safe, quality work environment and respect for all employees.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
· Promotes a safe working environment.
· Educates employees and assists in implementing procedures to reduce the occurrence of work-related injuries (ie: back problems, carpal tunnel syndrome).
· Promotes education, job rotation, and exercise as appropriate for reducing such injuries.
· Oversees timely and efficient production of quality footwear.
· Meets or exceeds production numbers on a consistent basis.
· Monitors production output and processes.
· Research, and develops methods for the implementation of ways to increase productivity, and reduce non-value-added processes.
· Direct supervision of all Production and Lead Personal
· Develop and motivate lead employees.
· Identify required training, career planning, and succession planning in the factory.
· Train and coach lead people in leadership and management skills pertaining to motivating and coaching employees, managing performance, corrective action and resolving environmental issues.
· Resolves personnel conflicts and provides motivation and guidance to personnel.
· Lead and motivate employees to maintain and continuously improve quality of factory operations
· Continually manages the production flow to maintain maximum production with minimum labor cost variances under changing conditions.
· Involves reassigning priorities and redistributing resources.
· Closely monitors raw material requirements to ensure that the correct quantities and qualities are in stock to meet production schedules
· Implement operating decisions subject to budget constraints and signature authority limits.
· Hire, lay-off and terminate employees subject to Company production and budget requirements and performance standards, review and agreement by Human Resources Manager.
· Consults and collaborates with colleagues to maintain effective and efficient Plant operations (ie: with Scheduling to determine production requirements; with Product Development to implement the manufacturing of new products or product changes; with Human Resources on personnel issues).
· Motivate and influence Factory personnel.

· Production experience
· Footwear experience

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each of the essential job duties satisfactorily.

EDUCATION and or/ EXPERIENCE:
College degree or equivalent experience
Ten years of manufacturing experience, preferably in the shoe industry
Five years experience in lean manufacturing

TOOLS/EQUIPMENT USED:
PC familiarity

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
30% work is spent in a general office environment with the other 70% in factory setting.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
This position reports directly to the Vice President of Operations.
