Marketing Manager

Reporting to the Director of Marketing, this experienced Product Marketing Manager will establish and execute marketing strategies to meet Northern Power’s strategic and business objectives. In Northern Power’s fast and flat organization, the successful Product Marketing Manager will be responsible for completing all activities associated with those objectives, including working across the organization, as well as with external partners, customers, and consultants.The candidate should be a high energy, self-starting individual, with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment. S/he will have strong relationship building skills, demonstrated initiative and the ability to manage multiple projects with the insight and enthusiasm necessary to be a major contributor to the company’s success. This team-oriented individual should have some experience in handling Marketing for a technical company, ideally in the energy industry, and in handling strategic, tactical and administrative Marketing activities.Responsibilities include:Ongoing evaluation of market conditions, competitive landscape and customer research to develop and evolve marketing strategies and plans for key market segments
Estimate the demand for products and services offered by Northern Power and its competitors, and set corresponding pricing strategies that maximize profits and market share while ensuring that customers’ key needs are satisfied
Identify potential markets and/or channels to market for full range of products and services
Monitor trends that indicate the need for new products and services, and partner with product and service managers through the product development process
Manage all other aspects of implementing marketing plans, including branding, positioning, sales collateral, marketing communications, web site/channel, press releases, direct marketing campaigns, and tradeshows; includes ownership of tactical and administrative tasks associated with these activities
Work side-by-side with internal personnel and external creative vendors such as graphic design companies, web designers, etc., as necessary
Ensure adherence to budgets and timelines
Assist in internal Marketing campaigns to create and maintain shared identity, energy, and pride in the products and services offered by Northern Power
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or Business Administration (or related discipline)
5 years or more experience in business-to-business product and/or technical marketing
Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize and multi-task
Strong market research skills, including working with customers/target customers to determine key needs
Collaborative work style
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills, with a proven attention to detail
Adaptable and flexible with the ability to work well under pressure and maintain a positive attitude under tight deadlines
Ability to manage external vendors to complete projects on time and within budget
Upbeat, can-do attitude with willingness to pitch-in in all areas when needed
Ability to work independently
Good computer, MS Office and Internet skills
Willingness to travel
Preferred Qualifications:
MBA degree
Experience in Marketing for technical company, preferably in a product marketing capacity
Experience in oil & gas, power generation, distributed generation, or utility industries a plus
