Market Segment Manager - Cell Culture
Sigma-Aldrich Corporation is seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to lead our business efforts as the Market Segment Manager (MSM) for Research Cell Culture. The MSM is responsible for directing the global growth and strategic management of Sigma-Aldrich's cell culture business for academic and industrial research. Specifically, this person will develop and execute global marketing plans, analyze new business opportunities, and lead the development of new products. This position demands a heavy interface with sales & sales management, R&D, project management, technical services, product management, market research, communications, business development, legal counsel and various operational teams. Approximately15-25% travel is expected to customer sites, training forums, and industry events.
Responsibilities:
'Utilize primary and secondary market research, and market experience to develop an intimate understanding of customer needs, market trends and the competitive landscape.
'Identify, evaluate, develop and implement marketing strategy, based on knowledge of established corporate objectives, market characteristics, customer needs and internal factors (cost, production, etc.)
'Develop pricing strategies, discount guidelines with sales management, and direct the product line managers in their operational pricing activities.
'Formulate, direct and coordinate marketing communications activities to promote products and services; coordinate strategy for and participate in promotional activities as appropriate, including tradeshows.
'Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of marketing expenditures, including return on investment (ROI) metrics
'Full profit and loss responsibility for assigned product lines, including quarterly and annual global sales objectives, supply chain management, costing, etc.
'Direct the hiring, training and performance of product line managers and marketing staff and oversee their daily activities related to all operational and strategic aspects of product line management.
Qualifications:
BS in life science field (or equivalent) required; MBA very desirable.
Minimum 5 years of business and sales/marketing experience in the life science market- -Personnel management experience required.
Creative, goal oriented with excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills, with the ability to communicate freely, and to bring passion to working on cross-functional teams.
Sound interpersonal skills (written, oral and presentation communications).
