Responsibilities:
The candidate will participate in Genentech’s commercial planning efforts by providing unbiased, objective, in-depth information about current and future markets, product performance, customers and competitors. He/she will identify critical business issues and opportunities for growth, collaborate with Genentech teams and work to embed an external market point of view into the strategic direction of the company. The incumbent will support strategic decision making across functional areas to help maximize Genentech’s commercial success. He/she will provide an objective commercial viewpoint based on an in-depth understanding and analysis of commercial information. The candidate will partner with sales/marketing, commercial development, business development, clinical, research, regulatory, finance, manufacturing and others. He/she will evaluate the market landscape, monitor changes and predict trends in market dynamics and competition. The incumbent will provide recommendations on product differentiation strategies. He/she will serve as the customer expert, as well as provide recommendations to align customer practices and needs with Genentech product strategy. The incumbent will identify and track key performance metrics for the product portfolio. He/she will perform new market opportunity assessments for Genentech research projects and business development opportunities and will create, validate and refine forecasts for these opportunities. The candidate will consistently and thoroughly review work for accuracy before sharing with a wider audience. The candidate will communicate revenue information throughout the organization, as well as successfully employ secondary and primary market research techniques to accomplish the above.
REQUIREMENTS
A Master’s in Business or a related field is required, with an undergraduate degree in Science or Business preferred. A minimum of 2-4 years of experience in the healthcare industry is a must. Experience in biopharmaceuticals and/or management consulting is preferred. Experience with developing and using Excel-based models and conducting quantitative analysis is essential. Exposure to pharmaceutical product development is required. Relevant therapeutic area expertise is desired. The candidate must have the ability to represent the Market Planning function on core, commercial, business development and cross-functional product development teams, including first-line accountability for Market Planning contributions, management of team relationships and provision of information and recommendations. He/she must have strong command of a variety of analytical and market research techniques, sought out as an analytical expert. The candidate has the ability to grasp key issues quickly, understands the "big picture" and links market research findings to larger issues. He/she has the ability to use rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions. The incumbent can see hidden problems and looks beyond the obvious and doesn't stop at the first answers. He/she uses creativity and ingenuity to develop solutions to complex problems and has a strong commitment to quality. The candidate will have the ability to deliver final products that are well vetted and reliable. He/she will demonstrate persuasive written and verbal communication skills and is comfortable around higher management. The incumbent will be effective in a variety of presentation settings and has the ability to handle risk and uncertainty.
