Manager of Public Relations

Plans and directs all aspects of WCI’s public relations policies, objectives, and initiatives from positive news media relations to issues management. The position works to ensure that all external communication by WCI results in positive public relations in local markets and nationally in support of the Company’s reputation, industry leadership and product marketing efforts.Approves or initiates all news media interaction per the WCI Business Communication Policy.Enforces and maximizes the effectiveness of WCI’s Business Communication Policy.
Leads WCI’s media relations activity to move WCI’s key messages and story packages to local and national media markets showcasing WCI’s products, services and industry leadership.
Creates and implements a comprehensive public relations plan.
Participates in executive communication with the news media and prepares employees to conduct interviews as warranted.
Fields all media inquiries nationally and locally for WCI and works with outside agency support as appropriate to manage media relations and public relations activities.
Conducts media outreach tours and visits as needed to support local and national media relations efforts.
Works closely with the Vice President, Investor and Corporate Communication to plan and monitor the department’s budget to ensure its fiscal accountability and optimal return on investment.
Grows WCI’s positive brand messaging in each of the Company’s regions (Florida, Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions) with respect to Tower Homebuilding and Traditional Homebuilding operations, as well as its Prudential Florida WCI Realty franchise and Real Estate Services division.
Supplies WCI’s Internet Press Room and Story Packages with newsworthy content supporting the WCI brand and the Company’s Strategic Plan.
Maintains fact sheets and press releases for media consumption
Performs all other projects and duties as assigned by the Vice President, Investor and Corporate Communication
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications or related field. Some graduate education in similar fields, or Master’s degree highly desirable.Ability to organize and manage a variety of projects. Requires ability to think creatively and strong organizational skillsAt least 3 years of experience in a corporate environment, preferably a publicly-held company or public relations agency dealing with community relations and the news media.Poised and creative. Should possess interpersonal skills to establish productive relationships. Able to work independently and solve problems creatively. Must work effectively with, and be available to all levels of the management team. Must focus on results and improving processes as well as streamlining costs.Must be able to understand and deal with conflict and myriad external and internal key audiences.
