Manager, New Initiatives - 7343

OVERVIEW:
The Manager of New Initiatives will be a key member of the Marketing Planning and Customer Strategy team, leading area responsible for understanding technological and other innovations in consumer finance as well as evaluating/proposing new business opportunities for Discover Card. The role includes developing strategies that deliver tangible and sustainable financial results to the business, leading major cross-functional transformational projects, and creating innovative solutions to solve key business problems.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The New Initiative manager must possess:
Extremely strong business acumen, strategic thought leadership, and ability to think out of the box and create innovative solutionsAbility to quickly understand a marketplace (markets/customers/, its dynamics, and the changes it is undergoing)
Strong analytical and project management skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize and drive resultsExceptional leadership and communication, teamwork and influencing skills with experience in managing project team at all levelsBusiness negotiation and deal-making skills including ability to understand legal, financial, and strategic anglesComfort working closely with senior executives with the confidence to challenge the status quo and share differing opinionsSense of humor and desire to have fun are musts
