Director of Marketing-Pet Products

Position Summary:
Responsible for developing and marketing products in a target industry sector to meet sales, revenue and margin goals established within the department. Maintain effective internal and external relationships (design and engineering teams, sales groups, buyers, suppliers, factories, etc) to integrate cross functional efforts and resolve issues throughout the development process from conception to final shipment to customers. Ensure excellence in customer service in all facets to engender buyer trust and confidence. Manage sales analysis/forecasting and financial reporting to ensure achievement goals for the product.
Responsibilities:
•Develop and execute marketing plans, including all facets of advertising, retail/channel marketing, pricing initiatives, internal development, channel distribution strategies, sales support, promotions, and events for pet product lines
•Partner with sales team to provide all necessary information and materials to maximize sales efforts and retail distribution of product lines.
•Respond to needs/concerns of buyers through direct communication or via sales reps.
•Coordinate and attend trade shows and sales meetings.
•Manage product development process
•Manage product sample allocations to ensure timely delivery.
•Assist with licensor relationships to maintain effective communications, gain approvals of marketing materials and maximize co-marketing opportunities.
•Drive category and product-specific market research. Identify market trends and perform competitive analysis including reviewing consumer reports, searching the marketplace, staying current with the “hottest” trends, and constantly trying to find ways to improve and differentiate company product lines.
•Track and analyze sales performance of product lines; create spreadsheets that compare COG and margins between present and prior year activities; analyze COG sheets, calculate FOB, COG %, margins.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:
•Experience in pet product market
•Experience with licensing, product design, production and development
•Experience with media relations, PR, promotions, advertising and branding
•Experience with strategic planning, budget analysis, POS cost and profit analysis, margin calculations, FOB, cubes, COG%, report development and sales forecasting
•Experience with sales presentations to retail buyers and client relationship management
•Computer skills-Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
•Bachelors degree with emphasis in marketing and commerce preferred
