Director - Public Relations

Unit Description: Basic Requirements Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, communication or related field; M.A. preferred
Minimum ten years experience; at least 5 working in journalism or media relations-specific position with two years minimum management experience
Demonstrated expertise with mainstream (consumer and business) print and broadcast media
Experience in corporate responsibility, corporate reputation and/or social responsibility campaigns, programs, structure, other
Portfolio of national, top market and local media placements
Superb writing, pitching and interpersonal skills Overall, the position primarily is focused on:

In pursuit of the above, also serve as co-PR lead (with the Vice President) for Corporate Support areas including Government Affairs, Labor/Human Resources, corporate legal affairs and Corporate Responsibility and liaison with Sodexho Alliance (global parent of Sodexho, Inc. in North America).
Managing the Public Relations Intern Responsibilities include
Helping to develop media relations programs that build Sodexho’s visibility, credibility and brand
Developing press lists and prioritizing them according to the needs and requirements of each division
Identifying ways to network with media representatives and actively engaging in these methods
Writing and pitching press releases to press list, proactively and in response to the needs of Sodexho’s business divisions and in accordance with the public relations plans for each division
Prepare issue responses, position papers, talking points and other communication materials to empower internal spokespersons and divisions to represent the company to its key external publics.
Organize and support media training, message review and rehearsals with executives.
Be well versed in the various culturally and ethnically diverse internal and external audiences of Sodexho in order to address them via media relations, and in order to work effectively within the company.Position Summary:
Plays an integral role in supporting the Vice President of Public Relations in the development and implementation of strategic and tactical media relations for Sodexho in North America and in preparing for and responding to various issues in Sodexho's business environment. Sets strategy and implements programs that establish and maintain relationships with top tier and support reporters, editors and producers with national and top market print, broadcast and cable outlets, and communicating with this list of contacts with creative, responsible and targeted, ongoing pitches and other outreach. Monitors Sodexho's media, competitive and legislative landscape (with the relevant internal departments) and responds appropriately and in a timely way to proactively position Sodexho and/or to respond to the needs and concerns of Sodexho's key publics regarding a variety of subjects and situations.
