Consumer Marketing Researcher

Purpose:
Job ID: 55136

Department Description: Consumer Insights & Intelligence (CII) delivers detailed market understanding, insights, and recommendations and represents and advocates the voice of the consumer across Mobile Devices and Motorola. The CII team leverages understanding of the consumer as a competitive advantage for Motorola and drives business decisions from innovation to launch.

Responsibilities/Expectations: Primarily serves as research consultant to the global product marketing and front end planning organization. Specific accountabilities include…

proactively identifies business and information needs of internal clients and addresses consumer research gaps
develops and executes an appropriate research plan to meet these business needs;
leverages knowledge from existing research by reviewing and synthesizes primary and secondary research that are relevant in the consumer and market understanding
conducts primary research to gain a deeper understanding of the relevant core consumer segments, the end user experiences, use cases and enablers pertinent to portfolio decisions
Liaises with design research teams on the design and execution of other primary research ensuring that the portfolio team's business needs are adequately represented in these research, whenever appropriate^^

Knowledge Skills: Research/Business Background

At least 5 years professional/business experience required, with at least 3 years minimum of market research experience in a consulting capacity preferred
Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; master’s degree in marketing or market research, or MBA preferred
Knowledge of both quantitative and qualitative research methods; multi-country/international research experience preferred
Cross-functional experience preferred
Previous mobile industry/competitor experience a plus

Track record of successful project management across multiple projects, including budget, timeline, tradeoffs/priorities, and supplier management/relationships
Exceptional oral communication and presentation skills focused on all levels and types of audiences; ability to be succinct, rapidly assess situations, and think quickly on feet
Outstanding written skills: meaningful, relevant, clear, actionable, and professional communications, easily understood by "non researchers"
Proven track record of working effectively in a team environment
Demonstrated willingness and ability to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity and rapid change
High level of enthusiasm and energy
