Job Opening: Community Relations Coordinator

Habitat for Humanity of the West Valley is a faith-based nonprofit organization that partners with low income families to provide a simple, decent place to live. Habitat for Humanity of the West Valley currently has the following position available:

Position: Community Relations Coordinator

Status: Full Time Salaried-Exempt

Purpose: To support the mission of Habitat for Humanity of the West Valley through volunteer management, public relations/marketing and fundraising.

Essential Job Functions:
Volunteer Management (40%):
• Coordinate organization’s volunteer staff. This includes scheduling, orientations, and hospitality.
• Manage volunteer outreach and recruitment. This includes presentations to civic, church, school, and other community groups.
• Match volunteers with activities that match their interests.
• Work with staff to understand volunteer needs.
• Organize and conduct volunteer recognition activities. This includes monitoring volunteer hours and planning volunteer recognition dinner.
• Be a staff resource to the Volunteer Committee.
• Coordinate annual volunteer appreciation events
• Manage Collegiate Challenge program in January-March.

Public Relations/Marketing (40%):
• Develop and maintain media contacts.
• Prepare and submit appropriate press releases regarding affiliate activities.
• Develop consistent affiliate promotional materials including the Annual Report.
• Coordinate the production of the affiliate newsletter three times a year.
• Make presentations to civic organizations and church groups.
• Plan and coordinate affiliate house dedications.
• Update and maintain affiliate website.
• Be a staff resource to the Public Relations Committee.

Fundraising Support (20%):
• Assist Director of Development with annual golf tournament.
• Assist Director of Development with annual donor recognition event.
• Assist in the recruitment of church congregations for volunteers, donations, and/or coalition participation.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum requirements:
• BA degree in related field preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• 2-3 years related experience
• Computer skills – Desktop publishing and/or graphic design
• Positive attitude and ability to work well with others
• Some evening and Saturday hours may be required
