Assistant Product Manager

Millipore, a leader in providing products and services to the bioscience industry, is searching for an Assistant Product Manager for it's Cell Biology portfolio. We are seeking a highly-motivated and talented individual who desires to gain introductory Product Management experience in a dynamic team and customer-oriented environment. The position is based at our BioScience Division in Danvers, Massachusetts.At Millipore, the overall responsibility of the Global Product Management group is to integrate the various segments of a business into a strategically focused program that maximizes the value of that business. Product Managers work directly with customers and industry thought leaders to assess the process and technology needs of the marketplace and the underlying assumptions that are broadly held. Product Management Team members are champions in the processes to bring products to our customers and are empowered drivers. As an Assistant Product Manager you will support the Cell Biology Product Managers across product lifecycle activities, with specific responsibility for systems, processes and communication.As part of Millipore's worldwide team, you will have the opportunity to advance personally and professionally; enjoy competitive compensation & benefits while helping us meet our business objectives.In this position you will have the following responsibilities:1.Support one or more product managers by taking responsibility for product supply and general product needs via coordination with each responsible function within Millipore including sales, technical support, planners, customer service, marketing communication, manufacturing, global supply chain and quality.2.Accountable for documentation management, support of customer inquiries, notifications, new product catalogue, part codes, support for production of marketing collateral and sales support materials. Work with distributors to ensure all appropriate forms are in place and implementation of product supply agreements. Interpret R&D/performance data and generate market information to drive technical content of catalogs, datasheets, brochures, direct marketing efforts, sales support tools, etc. Support production of marketing collateral and sales support materials.3.Assist Product Manager by gathering data to support decisions involving product lifecycle management. Seek feedback regarding product needs and/or improvements from field sales.4.Manage complaint investigations, SKU generation, channel management and support, inventory control and forecasting. Develop plans to manage and communicate exceptional supply/product events to internal stakeholders, and draft materials for distribution to customers when required.5.Resolve issues involving packaging and manufacturing with the assistance of the Product Manager
6.Assist Product Managers and Directors of Marketing to ensure approved product information and materials are provided to sales staff on a timely basis including sales training as appropriate.7.Respond to field questions and customer inquiries regarding technical specifications, quality issues, etc by working with the appropriate people within the Millipore organization to make sure the response is delivered to the customer in a timely manner.8.Work in conjunction with the Technical Support Staff and Product Manager(s) to collate market data and develop technical support manuals.9.Works with Marketing communications to track, analyze and report on the status of marketing promotions.
10.Develop and maintain a working knowledge of factors affecting the Cell Biology markets. Assist in competitive analysis.11.Customer visits/ sales calls/trade show attendance/conferences to understand market dynamicsJOB SPECIFICATIONS:1.Bachelors' degree with some knowledge of or experience in the cell biology market. One to four years experience (1-4)with life science products.
2.Demonstrated experience of providing marketing analysis information in life sciences, diagnostics, medical or similar environment is preferred.
3.Understanding of basic marketing concepts such as product life cycle and product positioning.
4.Demonstrated ability to understand, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals and basic business reports desired.
