Utility Quality Assurance Technician - Cut & Kill Floors

Job Purpose:
This position is assigned to the cut and kill departments. The Utility QA technician is cross trained on a variety of QA functions and positions to ensure PSF Quality and Food Safety programs are followed and to ensure all products produced meets or exceeds specifications. This technician will rotate through various job assignments in the departments as needed to provide coverage for vacation or other times when the QA technician assigned to a specific position is unavailable.
Responsibilities:
Conduct on line audits and collect quality data to ensure compliance with product specifications.
Conduct audits to verify compliance with the Good Manufacturing Practices, Sanitary Standard Operating Procedures, HACCP programs and document any nonconformance to quality and food safety programs.
Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Skills/Knowledge/ Personal Qualities :
Individual should exhibit a high level of responsibility and commitment. Individual must be able to rapidly adapt to change and be flexible and able to learn new skills as required.
This individual must possess and demonstrate personal qualities of diligence and dependability as well as show a high level of initiative to be successful in this position.
Must have basic math and computer skills. Must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Knowledgeable about USDA-FSIS regulations, HACCP, SSOP, GMP programs.


Environmental Conditions:
Inside conditions include exposure to moderate noise levels, moderate odor and presence of animal blood. Will also be exposed to wide variations in temperature.

Physical Demands:
Must be able to withstand continual walking and standing on concrete surface while wearing boots. Requires hand and wrist mobility and strength, ability to bend at the waist and move to a kneeling position. Job requires the physical ability to work more than forty hours in one week and may require working weekends as necessary. The QA Technician must be able to lift boxes of product weighing up to 50 pounds for inspection on an irregular basis.
