Luxim Corporation is headquartered in Sunnyvale, CA and was founded in 2002 with a mission to be the leading provider of lamps to the next generation business projector and rear-projection television (RPTV) markets. The Luxim lamp has many advantages over incumbent UHP lamp solutions, including brightness, lifetime, spectrum, instant-on, and cost.
Today a small group of people are employed in design and engineering roles. As a pre IPO technology startup, Luxim will grow the technical and operations staff in 2006 for a product launch before the end of the year. The company’s investors include Sequoia Capital.

Market Opportunity

The market for micro display-based front & rear projectors is large and growing rapidly. IDC predicts the business projector market at 6 million units annually in 2006, growing at a CAGR of 21%. The television market is much larger and growing even faster than business projection. CE Unterberg, Towbin reports the emerging TV market growing at over 40% annually, with over 25 million units in the +$2000 market for 2006.

Position Highlights

Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, the Supply Base Engineer will be responsible for the development, qualification and performance of a group of suppliers providing critical parts, components or sub-assemblies to Luxim for new and existing products.

Primary Responsibilities

•Supplier Selection and Qualification: assuring that Luxim’s supplier qualification procedure is followed and qualification criteria met before approval of the supplier
•Supplier performance using a rigorous performance measurement system
•Real-time supplier interface
•Development of AVL (Approved Vendor List)
•Development of cost models and achievement of BOM cost objectives
•Establish and develop contracts and supply agreements
•RMA and Failure Analysis coordination with suppliers and External Manufacturing Partners
•Participate in the generation of procurement specifications
•Supplier audit, as part of the supplier approval and periodical re-assessment of supplier quality
•Supplier quality management and follow up, resolution of technical issues, and follow up on NCR’s
REQUIREMENTS
Experience

The desired candidate will have 7-10 years experience in high tech procurement and materials management:
•Supplier Selection Processes
•Qualification and audit of suppliers
•Hands on experience in ISO 9001:2000 audit and quality system requirements
•Knowledge in statistics and its application in quality control is a plus
•Practical knowledge and experience in setting up Supplier Performance Measurement Processes

Skills Required

The following skills are essential in order to be successful in this position:
•Broad knowledge of materials management
•Detailed knowledge of particular commodity
•Current knowledge of supply base particularly Asia
•Broad knowledge of manufacturing processes/systems
•High volume manufacturing
•Transfer of products and processes to contract manufacturers
•Excellent communication skills
•7-10 years work experience in procurement, and materials management
•Hands on experience in ISO 9000 audit and quality system requirements
•Knowledge in statistics and its application in quality control is a plus

Education
