Supervisor (Mine Operations)

Company: North America Mining Job Function: Management Job Description: Major Responsibilities The Supervisor will work with other supervisors and direct reports to achieve safe and efficient operation of a production crew. Duties include but not limited to: equipment allocation, staffing, and operation of the dispatch system; ensure proper coverage and utilization of equipment so as to optimize safe efficient production; track employee time and attendance on a computer based system. Additional duties may include generating MIMS work orders, orientation, training, and evaluation of new employees.
Minimum Requirements - Education and/or experience equivalent to a High School Diploma or GED, supplemented by advanced leadership training or education up to or including a Bachelor’s degree in a closely related area.

Five years of open pit mining experience, including supervisory or lead experience.

Working knowledge of Modular Dispatch and GPS systems.

Computer proficient with Microsoft Office.

Able to understand and implement mine plans.

Skilled in resolving day-to-day questions/problems regarding equipment, materials, methods and procedures needed to complete projects.

Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.

Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Excellent Safety and Attendance record.

No active Discipline (internal applicants)Preferred Qualifications - Participation in QFZ Team.

Demonstrated commitment to Zero and Beyond Safety Performance and the Resetting of the Safety Culture.

Previous supervisory experience.Criteria/Conditions(specific background and skills) - Work is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see.

Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 30 pounds) during the course of the workday.

Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, or manufacturing plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
