Sr. Buyer

Smiths Aerospace, a leading global provider of innovative solutions to builders and operators of military and civil aircraft and engines, has an immediate opening for a Sr Buyer.

The primary responsibilities of this position are to obtain raw material and outside production parts to meet annual quality, delivery and cost expectations; identify manufacturing needs, identify and select suppliers, negotiate contracts, and arrange delivery; purchase critical, complex and/or high dollar parts, equipment, services and materials.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Procurement, Materials Management, Supply Chain or Business Administration; CPIM highly preferred; 5+ years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment; aerospace experience highly preferred; Ability to read, analyze and interpret blueprints, as well as general business procedures and government regulations; Effective verbal and written communication skills; Ability to effectively utilize ERP and MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); Ability to interface with all levels of customers and personnel; Strong problem solving skills; Ability to work in a fast paced team environment focused on results with strong drive to learn and exceed expectations; Proven track record of improving supplier performance (quality, delivery, and reduction in lead times); goal, results, and detail oriented.
