Purchasing / Senior Buyer
Gammerler Corporation, a leading machine manufacturer in the post-press printing industry, is currently seeking to fill a new Senior Buyer Position for its US operations. Gammerler Corporation is relocating manufacturing and logistics operations from IL to a new building in Palmetto, FL starting in December 2006 to increase US production and distribution.
We are looking for a strong Purchasing Candidate to help set up a new FL vendor base and work closely with all internal departments as well as our German parent company to reduce costs and improve processes & material flow. The Senior Buyer will play a strong role in internal process review, documentation, and implementation as our new FL facility grows, and with the planned installation of SAP software in 2007. This position will help to maintain low inventory, freight costs (international & domestic), and other administrative and production supply costs.
The Senior Buyer will help to oversee a $5+ Million of all domestic purchases including MRO Supplies, Sub-Contract Services, Raw Materials, Machined & Fabricated parts, Electrical & Pneumatic components, Finishing & Plating Services, & Capital Machinery. The Senior Buyer will also be involved in ordering and scheduling +$40 Million of equipment from our parent company while planning inventory levels with our Project Management and Sales departments.
We are seeking strong technical skills to support any or all of those product areas which will enable support of our new Engineering department and Suppliers. Strong skills for order execution, follow-up, and finding cost savings projects are essential.
This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining excellent vendor relationships, as well as being a key internal vendor for our Production department to ensure the best quality, cost, and timeliness of all incoming materials.
This position will report to the Materials/Logistics Manager, and will supervise new purchasing team to be developed in 2007. This position will be responsible for all daily purchasing operations including entering orders, expediting, quoting and negotiating, vendor management, receiving and invoicing reconciliation, communication of urgent orders & projects to others.
Candidate must have 7-10 yrs experience in a manufacturing environment, blue-print reading, excellent negotiations and vendor management skills, CPM or Degree preferred but necessary with industry experience. Supervisory experience a plus. Candidate must be willing to travel to IL for training, and also to Germany to visit parent company. Local FL travel needed for vendor analysis, further travel across US possible as budget allows.
