Product Manager

PRODUCT MANAGER Northern Colorado Direct Placement Purpose of Position :The primary role of the person in this position is to lead the product definition and market understanding for new and existing products.The output of these efforts is a well-defined product road mapdesigned to deliver the company's growth objectives. This includesgathering voice of the customer data to drive new productdevelopment, linking key product specifications back to customerneeds.
The Product Manager represents the customer's voice within theorganization. Through intense customer curiosity and focus, we candeliver products that meet the top customer needs. Coupling customer focus with an in-depth analysis of market trends will enable us to differentiate our product road maps and portfolio from competition.

**Candidates with an extensive Product Manager experience with consumer products and mechanical and electrical backgrounds are highly sought.Key Responsibilities- (this is just a few of many)
o Run product line like a "mini-business" (Sales, profitability, growth drivers, etc.).o Identify and deliver growth through new programs, enhancements to products, new markets, etc.o Demonstrate a sense of urgency and commitment to deliverprojects and revenue using resources beyond direct control toachieve results.o Have command of the business portfolio, (strategic importance)including products, revenue in whole and by products, pricing andprofit. Identify and execute actions within owned product lines. Actively and effectively manages existing portfolio, including, pricing, phase-out, product enhancements, etc.o Link prioritized customer needs in price / performance on product lines. Focus on future product requirements, both enhancements as well as break through.o Complete competitive analysis and research - command ofcompetitors actions and recommended response.o Lead product launch and product phase out steps - deliveringto timelines and actions.o Identification and assessment of in-market and adjacent spaceopportunities and analysis.o Be a key participant in the company strategic planning process.o Develop a sound and defensible forecasting strategy for newand existing products.o Build a competitive database allowing generation of price/performance maps for all key products.o Deliver product road map input to business unit as needed.o Complete policy deployment milestone tasks on time.The Product Manager reports to Product Line Manager or Business Unit Manager in most situations.Up to 25% travel could be required; more some months. Would be global, but mostly US and Europe.


Requirements:

Desired Background and Skill Requirements:o Bachelor's degree in a technical or business field.o Ability to empathize with customers, translating needs intoproducts. Strong business-to-business experience.o Effective personal time management.o Proficiency in Excel.o Effective personal and project team time management. Must be a leader.o Thorough understanding of the customer segments and productapplications for Business Unit's products (more of a portfolio view).Understanding of trends impacting the product line.o Thorough understanding of the channel for a product line.Understanding of sales by channel for product line and opportunities to leverage strengths to drive additional sales.o Utilization of project management skills. Comprehending thecritical elements of a project, converting this into morerapid product development and developing a strategic framework. Can provide guidance on how to develop a strategic plan to others.
