Operations Supervisor

Summary Description:Proactively supervise the day-to-day operations of a Core Processing team. Ensure that staffing needs are met and that business operating requirements are met or exceeded while in compliance with Putnam's policies and procedures.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Interview, hire, motivate and coach staff to promote a diverse, professional, and enthusiastic environment. Allocate staff appropriately to maintain proper staffing coverage and to ensure meeting department standards. Anticipate staffing needs through communication with management and monitoring of business requirements. Maintain accurate and complete personnel records on each employee. Partner with staff to develop a program for their professional development, including cross-training programs, relevant formal training classes and career pathing within the organization. Communicate standards to staff through staff meetings and ongoing feedback sessions with employees. Monitor and evaluate employee performance, providing positive or negative feedback to communicate consequences of error and strengthen accountability of each employee. Complete and deliver formal performance appraisal on each employee on an annual basis. Monitor department workflow and operating practices to ensure compliance with department standards and business requirements. Recognize business issues and identify impact on other business units within Putnam. Assess urgency of issues and facilitate resolution accordingly. Expand understanding of Investor Services operations and relational business impacts between the department and all other operational areas. Achieve and maintain an advanced proficiency with respect to the operation and the technology specific to the department. Maintain a high level of technical and industry knowledge to leverage resources. Handle escalated operational issues and ensure proper follow-up. Expedite sensitive operational issues effectively while maintaining good customer and supplier relationships. Listen to clients and understand their needs and issues while taking steps to prevent future problems. Contribute to constant improvement by sharing and implementing ideas with the manager, other supervisors and staff. Recognize own strengths and developmental needs and take action to leverage developmental opportunities.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors degree or equivalent business experience
3-5 years related experience
