Job Summary and Functions:
We are currently seeking applicants for our Operations Manager position in Cincinnati, OH . This person will be responsible for managing and directing shop personnel engaged in valve repair, machining, shipping, receiving and inventory control. Directly responsible for the supervising, performance management, scheduling and training of shop employees. As a key part of the Management Team, this person must drive business objectives, including top and bottom line financial performance, safety and quality processes, process improvement and cost reduction projects, and managing company assets. The operations manager must maintain a positive relationship with our sales force, our customers and our vendors. A strategic member of the regional management team, his/her primary objective is to manage, direct and have complete profit and loss responsibility for the Instrument & Valve Services center in Cincinnati, Ohio..
Major Areas of Accountability:
1. Management of Instrument and Valves Service Center(s) Managing the center as a self-contained manufacturing operation as well as a true profit center business, including complete P&L responsibility. Managing the operation including machine shop, weld shop, mechanical and assembly and calibration operations. Responsible for engineering, including troubleshooting and minor field changes involving both I&VS and non-I&VS equipment. Responsible for purchase of all materials, parts and tools necessary for all locations within his/her geographical region as well as preparation of appropriation requests for capital investments. 2. Sales Planning and Execution and Marketing Responsible for branch site indirect marketing function, including sales, through direct contacts with process plants in the marketing area and sales channels interface. Continuous communications with sales channels to find ways to uncover business growth opportunities. Responsible for the pricing of all Instrument & Valve Services goods and services and preparation of price quotes on larger jobs. Seek out, develop and implement new business opportunities in cooperation with sales channels. Conduct customer presentations, business reports and reviews. 3. Operation Planning Complete responsibility for all operational aspects of repair and service, including in-house, sub-contracted, and at the customer location, for the manufacture / reconditioning of Emerson division, and like competitor, replacement parts and product. Responsible for quality control and best practice implementation of all area/site service work performed including application of customer specifications, safety codes, and applicable Emerson Division Engineering Standards. Development and implementation of productivity / cost reduction plans through application of lean service principles, methodologies, and tools. Responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy work environment(s) and ensuring all employees adhere to internal policies and OSHA requirements.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
Mechanical skills as well as sound working knowledge of machine tools, welding techniques, valve assembly and repair. 3-5 years experience in supervision and technical positions in machining and assembly operations, prefer service background. Superior leadership, organizational, interpersonal, communication, prioritizing, and computer skills. Style must be conducive of building teams and putting customer first. Technical Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Safety and loss prevention skills. Sales/marketing experience would be helpful.
Previous managerial experience of several years is preferred.
A broad knowledge of the Emerson/Fisher Controls product line and its application in the process industries is preferred; a good knowledge of competitors' products is helpful.
