Mechanical Design Engineer

Our client, a recognized leader in the commercial architectural hardware industry, has a need for a Mechanical Design Engineer. This position is accountable for design and development of new mechanical and electro-mechanical products from concept through production. You will also coordinate prototyping efforts, develop test plans, work closely with suppliers and manage design projects.
REQUIREMENTS
A BSME or equivalent degree is required.
5+ years related design and development experience in the commercial door hardware including continuous hinge, panic hardware, locks and latch design.
MUST have strong background in performing clean sheet designs of mechanical and electro-mechanical products requiring intricate mechanisms from written specifications.
MUST be very creative and willing to break new ground with innovative and elegant designs.
MUST have a high-level of manufacturing/process knowledge and work well in a team environment using DFM techniques.
MUST also have experience working with U.L. and ITS testing agencies for obtaining product listings and certifications.
MUST have thorough knowledge of selecting materials and performing all related engineering analysis, FEA, etc.
MUST also be able to utilize Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Project, etc.
Knowledge and past usage of U.L, ANSI/BHMA, IBC, NFPA, ICC, and CE standards and requirements for door hardware devices and systems.
Strong design and layout skills in 3D CAD solids environment, using Solid Works are required.
Additional working knowledge of basic electronics, micro-switches, solenoids, power supplies, etc. would be a Plus.
