Health, Safety, Environmental Manager

The Valspar Corporation, founded in 1806, a global leader in the paint and coatings industry with revenues of $3 billion has an exciting opportunity for an individual to join us as a Health, Safety, Environment Manager (HSE Manager) located at our Wheeling, IL facility.In this position, our HSE Manager will manage safety, environmental and health activities for our Wheeling and Green Oaks, IL facilities. This involves developing policy recommendations, operating plans, programs, measures and controls for effective accident free use of resources, while ensuring compliance with all government and regulatory regulations.Additional RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate and/or conduct safety and compliance training for all personnel located at both facilities; promote awareness among plant employees of the benefits of a safe and compliant operation
Continuously improve group knowledge of information pertaining to safety equipment and manage the plant medical surveillance program - including physical exams, pulmonary function testing, audiometric testing, and IH programs
Coordinate implementation of safety rules, policies, safe work practices and procedures
Manage OSHA and other safety and environmental requirements
Investigate all accidents and environmental incidents and coordinate tap root investigations REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Safety Sciences, Engineering or equivalent
5+ years relevant experience
CSP, CIH, CHMM or other certification preferred
Working knowledge of Chemistry, Toxicology, Regulations such as OSHA TSCA CWA CAA DOT, Fire prevention, Root cause techniques ie TapRoot, Behavior observation techniques ie STOP Safety program implementation - preferably in a manufacturing environment
