Food Technologist
The Judge Group, INC. is currently in search of two Food Technologists for a Large Dairy and Beverage Manufacturing Facility located in the Mid-West.
Purpose of Position:
Provide leadership and depth of knowledge in food technology regarding product development, product quality maintenance, and technical service.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
1.Follow new developments in the food manufacturing and food technology areas.
Evaluate and recommend new processes/new equipment, and technologies that may be appropriate to manufacturing, distribution, quality assurance and retailing within the company.
2.Develop new products and processes and improve existing processes while containing costs and maintaining product quality.
3.Follow regulatory and technological changes that may affect the food industry by maintaining professional contacts with peers in industry, universities, and government agencies.
4.Provide technical assistance to manufacturing plants in the areas of
analytical and processing techniques for new product development, new process
development, and technical service.
5.Provide leadership in working with Corporate Technology, Retail, and Manufacturing staff in problem identification and resolution.
5.Resolve differences in manufacturing processes between the various operations
that will ultimately improve the quality and costs of products, and the efficiency
of these operations.
6.Demonstrate excellence in project planning, execution, and timing through project
evaluation and use of resources available to shorten the stroke in completion of
projects.
8. Initiate programs to keep plants current in ingredients, processing and packaging.
9.Perform bench top product development, pilot plant development work, conduct plant trials of new products and processes, and make recommendations for needed changes
10.Reduce ingredient and manufacturing costs of existing products while maintaining and/or improving product quality.
11.Provide information on testing techniques and quality assurance procedures for
plants; audit product quality, plant conditions, and consumer comments; and
initiate correcting deficiencies.
12.Prepare and maintain raw material, in-process, purchased products and finished
product specifications documents.
13.Train and work with other Corporate Technology personnel as potential backup.
14. Regular attendance to office, when not traveling on company business.
Education/Training/Experience:
1. Demonstrated excellence in project planning, problem solving and execution.
2. 3-7 years experience in Product Development and/or plant production.
3.At minimum a four-year college degree in Food Science/Technology or related
fields. i.e. Food Science, Dairy Science, Bakery Science, Food Microbiology
4.Working knowledge of the following computer programs: MS Windows, MS
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Lotus Notes, and Internet Explorer.
