Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Mechanic
Purpose: POSITION SUMMARY: This position is primarily responsible for providing a high level of troubleshooting, problem solving and repair for a wide range of production equipment, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic machinery. Provides technical leadership to others in maintenance department and other departments.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
-Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
-Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
-Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
-Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
-Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
-Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
-Using Allen Bradley PLC's, program and trouble shoot equipment.
-Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
-Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES/SELECTION CRITERIA
EDUCATION
-Minimum 2 years of technical trade school in related field is required.
EXPERIENCE
-Minimum of 10-15 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment
-Working knowledge of production equipment (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic pneumatic, etc.)
-Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment problems
-Good communications skills
-Experience with Electrical DCV and AC up to 460 volts is required
-Basic Safety knowledge
-Thorough attention to detail
-Experience with Allen Bradley PLC?s is a plus.
-Flexibility and the ability to adapt quickly to an every changing priority structure.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
-Excellent grasp of English language. Ability to verbally communicate instructions as well as document instructions clearly in English.

-Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
-Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING/COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
-Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Includes a wide variety of duties requiring a general knowledge of related organization policies and procedures and their application to cases not previously covered. Duties require considerable judgment to work independently toward general results. Requires employee to devise new or modify and adapt existing methods, techniques and procedures to meet new or unusual requirements and to make related decisions controlled by precedent and within limits of established policies.

-Contact with others within the department on routine matters or occasional contact with other departments or outside the organization furnishing or obtaining factual data requiring only ordinary courtesy and tact.

-Works with confidential data where the effect of any disclosure would probably be negligible or where the full import in not apparent in the routines performed.
COMPUTER SKILLS
-Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook; basic skills in PowerPoint and Explorer and knowledge of the AS 400 system is essential for entry into this position.

-The ability to work on manufacturing machinery for prolonged periods of time, in potentially uncomfortably positions.
-The ability to work in an environment in which machinery creates loud background noise.
-The ability to see using peripheral vision in order to avoid carts and other objects moving through the work environment for personal protection.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
-Under direction where definite objectives are established; plans and arranges own work, referring only unusual cases to supervisor or others.
