Director of Manufacturing
Recently public bio-nanotech company is seeking a Director of Manufacturing to oversee the production of a novel research instrument. The successful candidate will be a dynamic, hands-on professional with a track record of success in research instrument development, manufacturing and management.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Defines and recommends manufacturing objectives, prepares budgets and cost guidelines
Manages hands-on transition of production from R&D pilot to manufacturing
Work with outside consultants as needed to implement technology transition processes
Develops appropriate documentation to support manufacturing standards
Plans, coordinates and leads daily manufacturing operations, producing high quality equipment that meets customer expectations in a timely manner (logistics)
Coordinates product quality assurance standards and develops appropriate support documentation
Develops plans for efficient use of all resources (suppliers, inventory, equipment, personnel) necessary for manufacturing products in accordance with cost, quality and quantity specifications
Responsible for identifying, developing and managing production staff
Oversees design change proposals for effect on cost, quality and delivery schedules. Assures that prototypes comply with quality standards and requirements for full scale production
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in an Engineering field (e.g. mechanical, electrical, industrial). A minimum of 5 years instrumentation experience (design, development and manufacturing combined) with 2 years in supervisory/ management role. Requires experience with technology prototype development, design drawing software (e.g. Solid Works) and manufacturing process documentation. Must be hands-on, results oriented, with strong interpersonal skills.
This position is located in Ames, Iowa.
