Major Tasks of Position (major accountabilities)
Under the direction of the Cotton Breeder/Station Manager, the Cotton Introgression Breeder will be responsible for the introgression of transgenic traits into breeding lines and cotton varieties, as well as field testing of the derived lines up to handoff of breeder seed to the seed production organization. This includes:
Planting and harvesting in both the greenhouse and field
Crossing and tracking of lines throughout the breeding process
QA sampling and interpretation
Maintenance of seed inventories
Data collection, statistical analyses, and reporting of results
Interact with counter season nursery for transgenic seed increases

Minimum Education Required:
The position requires an M.S. in plant breeding, genetics, agronomy, or related field, or B.S. with related experience. Ph.D. would be considered favorably.

Minimum Experience Required:
Knowledge of plant biotechnology and analytical methods is necessary.
Experience with breeding and genetic analyses of plant biotechnology is desired.
Knowledge of various testing, statistical analysis and experimental design as well as the ability to conduct field trials with experimental lines.
Proficiency with PC software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Agrobase or SAS.
