Job Title: Apprentice Plumber/ Journeyman Plumber
Summary: Under supervision, to perform a variety of semi-skilled work in the maintenance of bathroom hardware, fixtures, and plumbing, and to perform related work as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Reports to site supervisor to receive day's assignment.
Assembles and installs manufactured building bathroom hardware fixtures, and plumbing under the direction of plumber
Cut copper tubing according to written instructions, using power saw, Connect, solder and square pipes, using solder paste or solder and torch, vice and level. Selects preassembled wall plumbing units, such as risers, air chamber, and valves according to diagram. Fastens units to studs with metal braces, using hammer and nails. Selects, assembles and installs fixtures, such as tub, sink, toilet and shower fixtures, using hand tools. Applies glue to vanity and sets vanity in place.
Operate maintenance equipment and a variety of power tools including portable drills, table saws, aerial lifts and related equipment as required.
Will cross-train in basic electrical tasks including demolition of old fixtures, installation of new fixtures including compact fluorescents and exit signs, and retrofitting existing lighting fixtures, installing reflectors and replacing fluorescent lamps, socket bars and sockets.
Perform basic plumbing tasks required in the replacement of standard commercial fixtures.
Complies with the company's personal hand tools requirements and maintains at all times.
Assists with loading or unloading of trucks and staging material when needed.
Maintains tools and maintenance equipment in working order.
REQUIREMENTS
Competency
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
Operate various motorized light construction equipment.
Operate various electric, gasoline powered equipment used in the work being performed.
Distinguish colors used in electrical wiring.
Demonstrate proficiency at interpreting Retro-Tech's energy Conservation Measures (ECM) Codes and Price Codes.
Basic installation, retrofitting, repair and maintenance procedures and practices.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Ability:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
