iSeries Operations Supervisor
Job Description:
Assists in management of daily processing for Data Center operations including iSeries job scheduling, printing and backup processing, EDI data, file transmission and disaster recovery testing. Manages numerous operations support activities including daily processing, system backups, system performance, and troubleshooting with major impact on daily operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Plans, coordinates, and provides on-site support of all activities associated with the daily support and operations of iSeries infrastructure.
•Performs problem and status reporting on Operational processes for departmental users.
•Maintain high availability infrastructure of controls on iSeries production servers.
•Provides troubleshooting and problem resolution giving guidance to staff and applying additional resources and escalation when necessary.
•Ensure problems are handled properly and timely.
•Develops and maintains Operational procedures and policies to support the organization’s iSeries infrastructure and ensure compliance with audit requirements.
•Recommend and execute modifications to iSeries systems in order to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance.
•Lead the implementation of projects for iSeries Operations, which can involve administration, testing, deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting, education, and emergency response.
•Develop processes, protocols and distribute workflow to meet project needs and departmental changes to maintain continuous improvement of Operational processes on iSeries.
•Provides backup coverage for weekend and/or shift rotation schedules.
•Develop, train, coach and evaluate staff in both the technical and professional aspects of their performance.
REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge, required skills and abilities:
•8-10 years iSeries Computer Operations and college degree preferred.
•Advanced knowledge to utilize computer operating systems commands and utilities.
•Expert problem resolution skills to determine the nature of computer hardware and systems software problems, and to communicate technical guidance and information.
•Knowledge of computer systems backup requirements and procedures.
•Working knowledge of networking, and internet technology
•Ability to work weekends and/or various shift rotations as required.
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
